P50 FAQ
Start low and slow, choose the formula that matches your skin, and treat P50 like the active exfoliating step in your routine.
Lotion P50 is Biologique Recherche's exfoliating and rebalancing toner, so beloved it's earned the nickname "a facial in a bottle." P50 is your ultimate skin-prep step: after cleansing, it helps rebalance your skin's pH while promoting better product absorption, smoother skin texture, refined pores, and a more even complexion - the radiant glow everyone's chasing.
Use the selector above as your first guide. In general, P50T is the best beginner formula; P50 PIGM 400 suits pigmented or uneven tone; Lotion P50 suits oily or congested skin; P50V suits dull or devitalized skin; and P50W suits acne-prone or reactive skin.
Begin a few nights per week, then build gradually if your skin is comfortable. Many clients eventually use P50 daily, but your ideal frequency depends on your formula, skin tolerance, climate, and the other active products in your routine.
Night is the easiest place to start. If your skin is already comfortable with P50 and your esthetician recommends it, some routines can use it in the morning too, followed by moisturizer and daily sunscreen.
After cleansing, dampen a cotton round with P50 and press gently over the face, neck, and decollete. Do not rub aggressively, and avoid the immediate eye area.
A light tingle can be normal, especially when you are new to P50. If you are sensitive, a beginner, or the stimulation feels too strong, start by slightly moistening your cotton round with water before adding P50 so the lotion is diluted. Do this for about a week while your skin gradually adjusts. Burning, lasting redness, rawness, or discomfort is a sign to stop, rinse, and let the skin recover before restarting more slowly or choosing a gentler formula.
Yes, but formula choice matters. P50W is the better match for acne-prone or reactive skin, while P50T is the best beginner formula for easing into the P50 ritual. Patch test first and introduce it slowly.
Be careful with stacking actives. If you use retinoids, exfoliating acids, strong vitamin C, acne treatments, or prescription topicals, alternate nights at first and avoid layering too many active steps at once unless your provider or esthetician has guided the routine.
Yes. P50 is an exfoliating step, so daily sunscreen is important. Use SPF every morning, especially when using exfoliants, brightening products, retinoids, or any routine designed to improve tone and texture.
P50V is chosen for dry or mature/aging skin, especially when skin looks dull, tired, devitalized, or depleted and needs a more comfort-focused exfoliating experience. P50 PIGM 400 is chosen when pigmented marks, uneven tone, post-blemish marks, or visible dark spots are the main concern.
Ask your physician before using exfoliating acids while pregnant or nursing. Ingredient comfort levels vary by person and provider, so it is best to get medical guidance before starting or continuing P50.
Some people notice smoother, brighter-looking skin quickly, while congestion, tone, and texture changes usually take consistent use over time. Go slowly rather than chasing fast results; overuse can make skin look irritated instead of polished.
After P50, layer serum, moisturizer, and any finishing treatment your routine calls for. If your skin feels tight or newly sensitized, keep the rest of the routine simple and cushioning.
Keep the cap tightly closed and store the bottle away from direct heat, sun, and humidity. A bathroom cabinet or vanity drawer is usually better than leaving it in direct light.
