Gua sha (Chinese: 刮痧) is a traditional Chinese medicine practice in which this tool is used to gently stroke across your skin to achieve clinically proven increase in microcirculation, and immediate decrease in myalgia. It is a relaxing and soothing experience, leading to a tighter complexion while helping to relieve tension in the face and reduces puffiness and inflammation.
Practitioners believe that gua sha helps stimulate new oxygenated blood flow, thus promoting metabolic cell repair, regeneration, healing, and recovery. There is also a clinically proven, yet unidentified pain-relieving biomechanism associated with Gua Sha, based on a 2007 clinical study at Beth Israel Medical Center's Continuum Center for Health and Healing
